To all of our experts out there, a question regarding this piece of equipment found last Tuesday while working the Osseo Trail (just got the pictures done last night). We are thinking remnant of a sled runner, but are certainly open to any input. Here's two shots of same item:

Thanks!

No expert...

but it looks like a hasp to me. Used to lock something down, like for securing a load on a skid. The eye at one end would slip over the loop and a lock or bolt would secure it. Just a guess.

I'm also guessing it's 12-18"s long?

Yep Kevin! About that 18" length. Fingertip to just past elbow. Heavy as a son-of-a-gun. Showed no signs of unusual torque or being under any type of stress.
