Trail Conditions: Trail from Clearbrook visitor parking was dry except for a couple very short (30-40 foot) sections of 6" deep soft snow. 2 river crossings required a walk across large fallen trees, but very do-able. Other crossings are mild and will get better as things dry up. Only one significant blow-down that needs some love, aside from that the trail was quite clear. We did not continue on to Mt. Flume or the New Osseo Trail. Previous experience says there are many blow-downs between Whaleback and the New Osseo trail. Next time we'll bring larger saws.
Special Equipment Required: Barebooted (w/ new boots) up and back. (no blisters!!) Hiking poles would have been nice for the descent as this is a very steep trail in parts.
Beautiful day, nice breeze and great views to Lincoln and Loon.
note: we tried heading towards Cedar Brook trail on Hancock Loop trail and found monorail and soft snow post holing after about 3/4 mile. Simply not in the mood for it so we turned around. Looks like South-facing trails are going to be the best bet for the next few weeks.
