Date of hike: Sun 10/5/14
Trails: Old Speck Trail, Mahoosuc Trail
Special equipment: none
Conditions: lots of wet slippery leaves on initial 1.1 mile section before upper Eyebrow Trail junction which made an otherwise manageable trail a little more challenging. Surprisingly few mud pits and puddles given recent rains.
Comments: water crossings all fine. Blustery yet gorgeous fall color even though many red sugar maples already had shed their leaves. - What a ladder on the observation tower - 20-25 straight up vertical rungs. Fortunately it wasn't slippery but not for those with a fear of heights.
Another wonderful day with our twin autistic sons who given their many challenges never cease to make every day with them one of discovery and growth.
