Saturday was a beautiful day to be atop any of the mountains in the area.

Left Depot Camp around 10.15 and headed briskly up Tripoli Rd to Thornton Gap. Put snowshoes on at the trailhead for Osceola - had to break trail all the way to the summit. 6+ inches at the bottom - deeper drifts at various points along the way. Frozen snow covering many of the deeply overhanging trees on the way up.

Fabulous views from the summit.

At the summit, a group had evidently come over from East Osceola so travel was much faster. Because of a shoulder injury last weekend, had to take the steep descents cautiously. Eventually just put on crampons and was able to move more securely.

Once I got down to Greeley Ponds trail, slipped on a pair of skis I'd been carrying and skied back to Depot Camp.
