Greeley Ponds Trail had several inches of snow and an uneven footway from being bare booted. Crossings were manageable with some ice-covered rocks. Mt. Osceola Trail had increasing snow to about a foot but the path was firm with minimal postholing. Steeps had some ice as did the chimney by-pass between the peaks, some care required. A few minor blowdowns on the trip.
We all wore traction. Crampons were ideal, although Gary did fine with Microspike ST's. We carried snowshoes but they were not needed.
Perfect day; no wind, no clouds and temps around freezing. Five other hikers on Osceola's summit. We're going to give up winter hiking if it keeps up as crowded as this...
