Greeley Ponds Trail well packed. I barebooted in on it. Mt. Osceola Trail was well packed but a tad softer and with the slope I switched to snowshoes to protect the trail. It turned out I needn't have done so, everyone at or near E. Osceola on my return had come up with crampons. There was some postholing as a result, but it didn't hinder me. The trail over to Osceola was sometimes a packed trench and sometimes just crunchy, but with snowshoes it was easy going. The snowshoe crampons reallly bit into the steep soft icey areas well. No difficult blowdowns; the one significant stream crossing was no problem.
The trail was a piece of cake for the mighty tough little dog, who met up with and played with another canine member of the Club, Teddy (after Ted Williams) and a new young pup black Lab. What a great day to be hiking.
