The forecast was for rain in the afternoon, so we tried to get out from Boston early. With car stashing and coffee, we (Brenda/Seeker, Steve, Allison, and myself) arrived at the Osceola trailhead a bit before 10:00. There was a van parked there advertising manicures; it seemed a bit out of place. We quickly rearranged clothing cause it was fairly warm, and were on the trail before 10:00.

Things were wet, but not bad. No problem stream crossings on the way up, but it was humid. We talked about skiing a lot of the time. We hit the summit around 12:00 and grabbed lunch then because we didn't want to eat in the rain. There were two other groups up there, and after chatting a bit (and one catastrophic Camelback failure) we decided to go for East Osceola since Steve and Allison hadn't been there yet.

The chimney was fun, slightly slick but not a real problem. It started to rain just as we got to the col, light mist on the way up to E Osceola. The summit was a great celebration for about 12 seconds, then we put on raincoats for the trip out. By the time we made it back to Osceola it was raining hard and we just settled in for the hike out. Saw a few folks headed up in the pouring rain, they looked happy but quite wet.

There are many blowdowns from Osceola to East Osceola, one or two of which are tricky. There was a patch of remaining snow on the climb up EO, but unless the rain turned to snow at that elevation, it won't last much longer. No bugs.

Pics (not many, too wet) to follow in this directory.
