Trail conditions: nice base packed out with 1-2 inches of new powder. Some ice below the snow that made the steep sections challenging.
Special Equipment Required: snowshoes helpful; crampons very helpful for descent. Should have used them for for ascending chimney bypass.
Comments: glorious day with mild temps and almost no wind, including on the main summit
Great views and partly sunny skies throughout the ascent. Clouds took over later in the day. Saw nobody on the trails, but observed that a party had hiked the East Peak and then butt slid their way down, apparently while wearing crampons
The resulting smooth surface made our descent a bit more challenging, but still quite doable. Did a mnor buttslide myself after tripping on a rock under the snow. No injury resulted. It was great hiking again with my good friend Jason ![Cool  ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)

P.S. Please note that the Mt. Osceola Trail west of the main summit was not recently broken out.
