Congratulations to my friend and VFTT member Neil S (who goes by HikeswithKat, I believe), for finishing his 48 on Saturday, on Owls Head.
Out and back via Black Pond and Brutus bushwhacks, neither of which entailed the whacking of any bushes, at this point, since they have both been so heavily traveled at this point.
It is a packed down highway from start to finish. Snowshoes are the way to go. There are a few blown downs here and there (especially on Owls Head itself), but nothing all that annoying.
The path out to Black Pond is melting out! I know I just said snowshoes. There is one small bald spot which is south facing (I think) and gets a lot of sun. For the rest of the way, most still has quite a bit of snow on it, especially on the mountain itself.
Be very cautious on any snow bridge! They all looked tenuous, and we did our best to hop over them, and I suggest you do so as well.
