Started from Lincoln Woods at 6:40am.
Made it to Wilderness boundary 2.9 miles in just 50 minutes power walking.
Was at the 5.5 mile river crossing mark 2 hours into the hike.
Reached Owls Head slide trail in 3 hours for those 8 miles in.
Can't miss the slide trail with easy cairns to spot.
Up the slide took 1 hour, 20 minutes to the new summit.
Back down took 1 hour, 5 minutes.
Awesome fun slide. Felt like I was skiing at times going down. Thought it was tougher than the Tri slides.
The long trek out took 2 hours, 50 minutes so beat our 3 hour time in on those 8 miles.
In the end, back at the car by 3:10 so 18.5 miles in 8.5 hours. Thought we really made good time with all the flat sections.
This hike had scared me for a while hearing how hard sometimes it can be to find the slide trail plus finding the old and new summits and all the tough river crossings, but water levels nice and low for late summer made this the perfect time to try this. Easy dry rock hops. No need for any bushwacks. Stayed on the trails. And a good day adventure deep in the woods to bag the infamous Owl! #42 for me.
