Lincoln Woods was a mix of mud and very slick ice, barebooting was the only way to go with the changing terrain. Black Pond Trail was maybe 70% packed snow with the remainder being bare ground. The first half of the Black Pond BW was a mix of mud, bare ground, and rotten snow. With all the bare ground you'll probably be unable to follow the tracks, not a big deal for those that know how easy the route is but could be unnerving for those that aren't familiar with it. About halfway through the BW we put on snowshoes which stayed on until we returned to the mudpits and snow-free terrain.

Once back on the trail (Lincoln Brook) it was quick and easy going to the Brutus BW. All the crossings were fine. The last crossing lost 1/2 of its bridge today on our way back across but it can still be easily rock-hopped since the water isn't all that high yet. Brutus BW was very rotten down low, a mix of bare ground in the glades, rotten above until ~3500 ft, and then pretty pleasant up to the ridge. With rain in the morning before we set out and a light rain shower from Black Pond out, a perfect wet April day for Owl's Head. Still some time left to grab this peak before it gets real bad! Thanks for the company Devin!
