A few shots from our recent one-night paddling trip to Brick Island, Merrymeeting Bay, Maine. On Friday 9/2 we put in at Richmond. Rode the ebb tide down the Kennebec River to the island, where we spent the night. Saturday 9/3 we waited for the flood tide and headed up the Cathance River to Bowdoinham, where we had spotted a car. There were three of us - two in a 17' canoe, and I used my kayak.
Ethereal paddling in the fog Friday morning. It burned off later.
Sumi-e reeds
Rest stop on a small island, en route to Brick.
Setting up on Brick. There are at least three campsites, each with a fire ring. Ours was the only site with a picnic table!
Sunrise Sunday morning.
A very relaxing trip, and a great way to start the long holiday weekend. Thanks to John and Ruby for their company, and to Andy for information about this trip.
