Anyone hiked Passaconaway since snow storm...looking for trail conditions before hiking on Sat.

Thanks & have a great Thanksgiving

I haven't been up there in a month or so, but I can tell you that Route 25 is roughly the rain-snow line. There's about 3-4" of snow here in Tamworth, whereas there is no snow in Ossipee proper. If you're going up Dicey's, it's fairly tame terrain until the last few hundred vertical feet.

If I were hiking Passaconaway in the next few days via that route, I'd start barebooting, with Microspikes and snowshoes on my pack. I think an ice axe and crampons would be overkill.

We hiked Passaconway over three weeks ago and there was plenty of snow above 2500 ft at that time. We hiked in the Ossipees yesterday and snow cover started at 2000 ft.

The last three trail reports: Hale, Wildcats, Garfield would seem to confirm that you will find at least two feet of snow up near the summit, with deeper drifts in places.

The bigger question is: has anyone broken out the trail for you? I don't know the answer to that question. I'd love to know the answer to that for a few hikes I have left to do: Lincoln--Lafayette, Madison-Adams, and the Tripyramids.

When I was heading back from Garfield yesterday I saw a number of cars in the parking lot for Lafayette. While I wouldn't guarantee the trail is broken for the ridge, it's really popular and I can't imagine that it isn't.
