Started up the unofficial trail to The Nubble from the end of the Gale River Rd. Went to the Nubble, great views, trail easy to follow, gentle slopes. Dropped back down the trail to the stream crossing, and started upstream. Continued to the slide, and up the slide, which brings us almost to the ridge. A few slippery spots on the wet rocks, but not bad with care. Summitted within 5 ft of the canister. Tried to follow the ridge straight to The Nubble, but we were drawn quickly east. Made our way through thick spruce back around to the slide to return. Easier on the way down than going up.
Beautiful day for a bushwhack Sunday. Cool, sunny, and views forever from the slide and the two summits.
