Pico via Sherburne Pass Trail 12-23-08
Trail Conditions: Trail has been broken out to the point at which it enters the ski slope, approximately 300 yards from the summit. It is not packed and smooth by any means but the hard work has been done.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes still required to further enhance the condition of the trail.
Comments: The trail condition has improved markedly since I was on it in the winter of '05. Blazes have been freshly painted, the trees have been limbed up so the blazes are plainly visible and there are no blowdowns or other impediments.
My thanks go to a husband and wife ski team that broke open the trail a couple of hours before I got there.
