Started a little later today expecting to follow some trail breakers up to the summit, but I was first again. One hiker with snowshoes had been on the trail since the snow on Wednesday and it was broken but loose and soft, but not too bad up to the Mizpah cutoff. From the cutoff the trail was pretty much filled in and some trail breaking was in order. The cutoff was broken out toward the hut. The trees were very heavy laden with snow, plenty of hanging branches. As soon as one left the protection of the trees, the wind hit with blowing snow. The last push to the trail jct. was tough, plowing through deep drifted snow dunes with visibility only about 40 yds. The short climb to the summit was mostly wind blown with icy patches. Met up with about 20 hikers while descending, so the trail is well packed now except for the bare booters who really tore it up. Nice talking with "This bud's for me", ---M, and Tom today. The Clinton Rd. wasn't plowed this morning when I started and the spur trail to the parking area wasn't broken out, however on my return the spur was broken out, so I'm assuming that they had plowed the road.
