pinnacle to blake

Can i get some 411 on the trail from elk lake to blake thru the pinnacle.

I haven't climbed Blake from the south. That's what I plan to do tomorrow & will report on it.

Long hike. Whack to the Pinnacle from the height of land on the EL-Marcy trail. Depending on where you go, it can be fairly open the first part of the 'whack and thicker as you near the Pinnacle or the bump before it.

The entire route is very dry unless there might be some small streams or puddles in the cols. Fantastic views from the Pinnacle, nice views from S. Blake. LOTS of ups and downs all the way to Colvin, many of which don't show on the topo maps.

Best advice - start early and bring a lot of water. Great hike.

But you can do it without the whack, yes? The USGS map doesn't show a trail for the whole way, but ADK Guide to High Peaks does.

Yes, there's a trail the whole way. One of the least traveled and most interesting ones in the Adks. Fantastic views of Upper Ausable Lake.
