For the longest time I've been intrigued with northern Maine and rural townships that govern the area. After spending several days in Caratunk I felt satisfied and at same time desiring more to explore the area more. So I am a grateful man to spend this time with my scout troop at a outfitter called Adventure Bound.
Our adventure in the Maine woods was a three hour drive through familiar grounds until we drove past Skowhegan where towns like Moscow and Bingham came alive from DeLorme's atlas of the state. When we all came to our base for the weekend we took our tents.
On Saturday, six scouts including myself and three adults including our guide took a jaunt up to Pleasant Pond Mountain. The mountain is on the Appalachian Trail and while it may be a little peak, it was gem. It was one of those days where one could hike at midday and spend a leisurely hour on the summit surrounded by the country. My legs after Owl's Head wanted to hike and it was simply wonderful to climb and perspire to attain the rewards of summiting.
The sunlight was dispersed through the tree's golden leaves and our path crinkled with dry leaves on our 1.4 mile climb. It was a perfect day to outside and my heart took delight in photographing the climb and the summit.
We summited and took pictures in company of the conifers and lichens on top. Our eyes saw peaks like Bigelow, Moxie, Katahdin, and Kineo in the distance and at last after seeing pictures of these peaks they seemed so close that I could climb them all.
Our company was satisfied of the summit visit and descended down. We returned on our path that we came on. My camera was not idle and I snapped away at the scenery, now you can enjoy the sights and splendor of the hike.
