A series of early season snowstorms (yep, it IS snowing somewhere!) made for some well-intentioned but questionable SAR efforts in the North Cascades of Washington this past week when a few back-of-the-pack PCT thru-hikers went "overdue." While appreciative of everyone's efforts, one of the hikers "Nadine" (last link), states the media "totally blew things out of proportion" and that she, her dog, and hiking partner were prepared for the weather and did just fine.
Interesting discussions on various sites (hope these links work):

Her comments on "Journals and Photos." Also interesting to read people's comments ("Leave a message"). Nice webpage and beautiful dog!!
Glad everyone was okay and hope the stragglers are able to finish their thru-hikes this year.
