First of all i wanted to say hello to everyone out there. I've visited this site enough in the past year so i figured it was time to join up and share my trip experiences. A little background: I started hiking back in 2000 when i did Mt. Pisgah in Vermont. Not a big mountain by any means but being a native of Chicago for the first 12 years of my life this was a huge experince for me.

Slowly i built up some endurance and eventually did my first 4k in September 2001 which was Mt. Hale. THen i did a bunch of little hikes the next few years til i did Moosilauke in 2004 followed by Washington that same summer. It was around this time that i decided i wanted to do all the 4k mountains at some point. Not in a big hurry to do so but its a nice goal to keep me going with the hiking. Now onto my latest hike.

After doing some hikes with people I decided it was time to do some solo so i chose the Webster-Jackson Loop as a start. Left my house around 5:45 and got to the trail head at 8:45. Trail was mostly mudd but nothing i couldn't handle. Got to the fork and decided to do Webster first and get those views before getting better ones on Jackson. This was the first time i've gotton views from Crawford Notch and they were good. Moving onto Jackson there was some snowpiles and ice but again nothing too special. The Views from Jackson were pretty good. Could have done without the haze but still not bad. After resting for 15 mins or so i headed down. Was interesting to say the least. Felt like i was doing more downward climbing than i was hiking to start off. Took a couple of spills but got better. Then the trail turned into a stream for most of the way back to the fork. All and all i can't really complain. Temps were warm, the sun was out and i was dry (well from the lack of rain anyway). Looking forward to my next one!

Beintrepid - welcome to VFTT and congrats for coming out of the closet. The tradditional 'bikini wearing on Adams' rite of passage schedule will be mailed to you...

As you've been visiting for over a year you already know what a great family this is.

Good luck with all your future endeavours and hope to see you out there some day. Sooner or later everyone overtakes me :)

Bob

Welcome

Beintrepid - Welcome to the great home of northeast hikers. Glad you had a good and safe trip! I have not been up on that side of the notch yet but based on what I have seen from the west side I am sure those views must have been great! Hope to see you out there some day and HikerBob is not as slow as he leads on! ;)
