Left Appalachia at 7:30 Am, made it to Pierce at 6:45. Skipped Jackson and Webster, made it to Crawford notch at 8:30 for exactly thirteen hours trailhead-to-trailhead (eight and a quarter hours from Madison summit to Pierce summit). Not quite as fast as I'd hoped for (I started well but was slowing down a lot by the end), but I did manage to make it to Pierce with daylight to spare despite the "late" start.
By pure luck I bumped into Whitelief, Andy, and John on the south side of Jefferson. We joked about "alligator egg" afterward but it was Whitelief's thumb cast that gave them away.
Skies were the clearest I've ever seen them except in winter. I can confirm that the ocean is visible from the top of the Presis - the reflection was unmistakeable at 10:30 AM from the top of Madison. An hour later, on top of Adams, I couldn't distinguish it, but when I returned to Mt Washington today (by road), I just barely distinguished the ocean through the coin-operated binoculars as late as 11:30 AM. (Today was extraordinarily clear too, though I think not quite as clear as yesterday.)
Photos and a full report (or links thereto) to follow over the next several days.
