I'll be in the High Peaks this weekend looking to do some x-country skiing. I've never done the Raquette Falls route and I'm looking for any feedback on that trail. Beginner/Intermediate ? Well marked ? Snow depth in that area now after the snow the last couple days ?

Thanks in advance,

Bob

Tony Goodwin's online report on backcountry conditions says:

"Raquette Falls is again skiable with 8" of new snow."

There may be a few inches more by the weekend.

I've done that one a couple of times - it's mostly beginner terrain except for some switchbacking descent. Nice if you like flat, rather boring on the return. But the roaring river was a thing of beauty with ice plates stacked up and the deep gurgling under the ice.
