Rols, Tuco and I did the Crockers and Redington last Saturday, doing some benign bushwhacking from South Crocker to Redington and then heading out the log roads to CVR using Mohamed's directions. I guess you could try another approach between CVR and Redington, but the woods are probably thick and nasty.
If you do try Mohamed's route, please note that the logs pointing arrows to the right logging roads are decaying and not as visible. There are cairns where to turn, however.
I would be happy to provide some specifics on the bushwhack, should you be interested. It is pretty straightforward, especially if you know what you're looking for and where to to look for it.
I was talking about what you referred to as 'nasty'. So much for that. Seemed a faster approach than the MO round-a-bout route - if there was a 'hole' in the woods between CVR and those log roads just N of Red.
Rup,
We tried a shortcut back to the parking area, thinking that those roads just had to connect. Maybe they do, but we dodged a lot of berry bushes, boggy areas, and bear poop and never found an easy way.
