It's fairly easy to follow - a herd path starts immediately behind the summit rocks on South Carter. After passing through the woods, you'll reach a former clearcut - the beaten path will eventually start to angle uphill and reach a logging road. Keep your eyes out to the right for where the herd path re-enters the woods - it'll be before the logging road reaches the height of land, if I recall.

One additional comment to add:
After following the herd path down from the South Crocker summit, you come to a boundary cut. Go to the right a bit and look to your left for the herd path heading downhill. This is where the boundary cut takes a sharp right turn. That herd path takes you to the clearcut and beyond.
