Has anyone actually bushwhacked the Redington Pond Range from the 4000' peak to the 3770' peak?
We are looking for info such as terrain difficulty and vegetation thickness.

Thanks.

I have also heard you need to watch out for guards from the nearby Military reservation, the boundary of which seems to pass very close to 3770'

I have not been there, but maybe someone who has had a "close encounter" would like to respond.

Middle Redington is a great peak, far superior to the main peak. Great views to the south, east and west. I don't think the military reservation is too active anymore, and it is South Redington that is in the reservation property. When I first hiked there in 1990, I was looking at the military complex through by binoculars, and I saw a guard looking at us through his binoculars, I waved but he did not respond. It was an interesting moment for sure. My same hiking partner and I were "escorted" off the reservation when we bushwacked off Potato Nubble and ended up on the main entry road. We were on the road less than two minutes before a jeep appeared and the driver asked us if we were "lost"! No more than usual I informed him!

a few years back when they put up a wind measuring instrument on middle redington, a herd path developed from the 4010 summit over that way. pretty easy to follow in summer. that's one i haven't done in winter because it is usually a 14 - 18 mile day to the main summit depending how far in or not the cvr has been plowed.

There was a post recently that CVR is plowed to the fork just beyond the AT crossing.

if that's the case, Redington should be a relatively easy "bag" this weekend...

Actually, Rambler just posted an update that it's only plowed to "well beyond the 3 mile marker", not the AT crossing. But he said it's well packed by snow mobiles and skis beyond that. So its a bit farther to go but easy going.
