Hi all,
I will be hiking Mt. Mansfield from Underhill State Park with a large group of 8 to 15 people. Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations in that area for after the hike?

Many thanks,
Marty

Nothing directly, i don't recall seeing a whole bunch the way I went last year to Underhill. On the way to Camel's Hump though I did drive through part of Waterbury which had a couple of B&B's.

I did not scope out any restaurants (I wasn't looking) but it seemed like a nice place to go for a quiet weekend. They had restaurants, unsure if smelly polyster would be appropriate though.

Personally, I would look at going the extra 15-20 miles to Burlington. On Church Street you can find all sorts of good places to eat, sit outside on the lake etc. Great microbrews as well....

Of course, I'm biased since I live there. =]

Try Montpelier, we ate there after going up Mansfield from Underhill SP about this time last year. There were a good number of restaurants on the main street. I don't remember too many places to eat until getting near Montpelier.

If you have the time, heading into Burlington will give you your best selection.

There are some options closer in the Essex 5 corners area.j The Lincoln Inn, (http://www.lincolninn.net/) is a favorite. They can seat your 15, but you might have to clean up (a little) before you go.

If you are headed south and want to put a few miles behind you before you eat, there is a great microbrew/restaurant in Waterbury:

Thanks for the advice, everyone. My guess is that we will all be grungy, sweaty and potentially pungent hikers. As Burlington seems just a bit too far in the wrong direction, we may possibly head to Essex, Montpelier, or Waterbury which all seem to have some good places.

The pub/microbrewery in Waterbury that Vermonster mentions sounds especially good, as I plan to tip a few to celebrate finishing my final New England 4k. :D
