On my solo north-to-south Presi traverse on 26 August (see blacklab2020 thread dated 25 August under Events), I was pleasantly surprised to find the Crawford Path now clipped out, especially along the sections between South Monroe, Eisenhower and Pierce. This trail maintenance will be especially appreciated this coming winter. I happened to meet the couple that has been responsible for this excellent two-year effort at the junction with Edmands Path early in the evening and thanked them, but forgot to ask their names. Also, thanks to blacklab2020 and friend for spotting me at Appalachia about 5 am for my ascent up Valley Way; they went up Howker Ridge, but got behind schedule, so headed back to their start point from Edmands Col (almost as many miles as a Presi traverse!). Excellent hiking weather on Saturday, with temperatures in the high 40s to low 50s, mostly cloudy, with little wind. Two mountain runners also going north-south passed me at the summit of Jefferson, and I am thinking that they probably completed the route in really fast time (just guessing, but maybe less than 4 or 5 hours(?), based on how fast they moved by me). And, just for disclosure, I skipped Jackson (not named after a president), as I some times do.

 "clipped out" = ? (tree branches trimmed?)

yeah, sorry for the confused jargon, my bad; clipped out = branches trimmed = brushed = standardized (the last word being the AMC Trail Crew definition for trimming branches overgrowing trails to allow passage of a person carrying a 4'x8' sheet of plywood on an AMC packboard without needing to wiggle sideways through the branches, etc.). The Crawford Path in the area between Pierce and South Monroe had become badly overgrown, which was sacreligious for this perhaps most venerable old trail in the Whites, in my opinion.
