ripstop vs. microfiber

i have always had synthetic sleeping bags. my desire to lighten up has led me to look into down. some of the bags i'm interested in seem to be coming down to ripstop vs. microfiber with regards to the shells. i was hoping to get some information on how a microfiber shell is (or isn't) better at dealing with moisture.
