Rocky Branch Trail

Has anyone ever noticed the hewn wooden post that is painted red on the Rocky Branch Trail, about a half a mile past the wilderness boundary when coming in from the Jericho end? It looks like a town line monument, but I had never heard anything about it until I stumbled upon it last week. Must have been put in before the Presidential Wilderness was created.

That's the county line (Coos/Carroll). In fact, the wooden post is depicted on the 24K topos.

Once again you guys are both right as of course the county line is also the town line

And probably survey monuments are exempted from Wilderness rules as historic structures if nothing else
