The trail above the Washbowl has three or four steep ice flows where MSR Denalis just didn't cut it. Stabilicers worked OK but crampons would've been better. The open ridge above was mosly bare with only one or two small tricky ice patches. All the rest including over to the top of RPR was well-packed snow. There was no sign of anyone having broken a bushwhack path down Dipper Brook. Too bad; the climb back out of the col to the Giant trail gets steeper and higher every year!
