This was my first 3500 club hike and my first "Canister". The club hike was Rusk and East Rusk, but another hiker and I split off on the way back and did the loop over Hunter and back to Spruceton Road via the Devil's path.
The hike leader did a great job of navigating us to the ridge a little east of the Rusk summit where we picked up (for the most part) the herd path to the canister. It was relatively complication free, although a warm, sticky hike with very soupy air down low. Nettles weren't bad on the bushwhack; we actually experienced worse overgrowing the Devils Path down toward Diamond Notch on the return loop.
The air cleared a bit by the time we reached the fire tower on Hunter allowing for some pretty fine views.
