So the cable fails (shorts) and they condemn rechargeable batteries* (which are capable of high short circuit currents). Lithiums primary cells could be even worse...

* Presumably NiMH (they don't say). NiCads are capable of even higher short circuit currents.


I guess this is modern product safety--their product fails and the fix is that the user is supposed to use inferior batteries...
