Fred and I hiked to Samuel's Point which is somewhat within the same N-S ridge as Wittenberg. We started from my friend Josef's house on Burgher Road and started up towards what the locals call "Little Mtn" which is the 1357' small bump south of Samuel's point on the map. The steep climb past some hunting shacks and an unfinished house (Burgher property) was short and our reward was an outstanding view of the Ashoken Reservoir, AHP, and the Bushwack Range over Moon Haw Road. We also had the two Jack Russell terriers along for the hike too so we had a little posse! :)

Little Mountain is on private land and we camp across a campsite complete with cheap Hillary tent that was lying flat and somewhat frayed. From the map, it made sense to climb Little sam's Point and then over to the true summit so hicking through the mtn laurel and through some logging and some woods roads, we hit the 2200' false summit and again, afforded views of the peaks in that valley. Then 2/3rds mile and about 600' up, we hike the true summit of Samuel's Point with is a slabby summit, much like Winnisook Peak with some nice views and an obvious campsite. There is also some rusting steel fenceposts and rotting wood as if there was an old pasture on the summit so there is signs of some human activity there.

On the way back, we decided to head down towards Wittenberg and hike down the Dry Brook (of the same name by the creek by Margaretville) which goes by Dry Brook Road which branches off Moon Haw not far off Route 42.

We basically hiked down the river til about 1500' where you run into the Bushkill Rod and Gun club property and then we simply followed the yellow blazes til we hit 1300' and rounded the corner til we got to the small section which is state land and the end of Dry Brook Road. There ar a lot of stone walls and an old homestead in the area that was interesting to explore. After hitting the road, we simply walked back to Josef's house after leashing the JRs.
