I had been planing this hike now for a couple of weeks. My goal was to traverse from Passaconway to North Tripyramid. I started out at 8am sunday on the Oliverain Brook trail followed it to the Passaconway cutoff from there the trail climbs gently to the jct with the square ledge trail. The Square ledge trail steeply climbs on the Passaconways shoulder were it meets the Walden Trail. I arrived at my campsite at about noon
No sooner did I get my tent set up did it start to rain. I hoped in the tent did a little light reading while my girlfriend took a nap. The Rain stopped at about 3:30 and We decided it would be a good time to do the summit loop up dicey mills and down walden. We got interesting undercast views from the top
I also got my 24th summit for the nh 48
Next morning We packed up the campsite Which I would like to thank Psmart for his excellent recomendtion of camp rich, and headed down the rollins trail to the summit of Whiteface
From there we headed down the kate sleeper trail and picked up east sleeper
We followed the kate sleeper trail which i must say is a very nice trail to its jct with the south slide. When I had did my research all the guidebooks said that it met up at the top of the slide, the didnt mention that you had about 200 ft of the slide left. Not being a fan of exposed routes I shuffled up that slide as fast as I could trying not to look down and for that reason I do not have any pics of the slide which was dry and had lots of loose rocks.
Made it to south tripyramid and was quite relived to be off that slide! from there we followed the sometimes very steep Mt Tripyramid trail to the summits of middle and and north
After seeing all those great summits I had to descend back to my car which we did via the scar ridge and pinebend brook trail back to the kanc.
This is the last photo I took a good view of washington from the pinebend trail
The total distance was 17.6 miles with aprox 5300 ft of elevation gain. I highly recomend this route car spot is needed and I must say that the WODC does an amazing job maintaing there trails most of them were in great shape and a pleasure to travel over. I was very glad that my second ever overnight was a sucess unlike owls head a month ago.
