Two of us climbed Santanoni via the new/old trail. The road was still mostly snow, about six inches. The trail to the cutoff at different points was rock hard snow, soft snow, running water, and some mud. The ice over the brook crossing was gone, but the water level was down and allowed for rock hopping. The snow from the other side of the brook to the summit was completely consolidated allowing us to walk anywhere we chose. This was good since finding the herd path was a challenge. Through the frozen beaver area it was easy, but became quite hard to find once the climbing began. Near the summit the snow depth allowed for easy passage through the scrub. The weather although a little chilly was outstanding.
