Evolving from Meo's "Scrambles" and Dax's "Trail Shoes vs Boots" threads... I was wondering if anyone knows of any good scrambles in the northeast (esp. Adirondaks). A couple that come to mind are Eagle Slide and the Trap Dike.

Also, I'd appreciate some company on Adirondack scrambles (maybe a NH scramble in mid to late August)... especially since I don't know any of the approaches or exits for these scrambles. If you're interested, send me a PM. About half of my weekends are open for hiking this summer.

The 1990 and 1999 Slides on Colden.
Ermine Brook Slide on Santanoni.
True North on Gothics.
Dix Mountain.
Chicken Coop Brook Slide on Saddleback.

A few I've done that I really enjoyed (all in the Whites):

Mt. Washington - Huntington Ravine Trail
South Baldface - Baldface Circle Trail
Mt. Adams - The Subway and King Ravine
Mt. Jefferson - Caps Ridge Trail

And a couple I've heard are good but haven't done yet:
Mt. Jefferson - Castellated Ridge
Mt. Madison - Madison Gulf

Those I've done:

The east ridge of Friday, the Catskills
Plattekille Clove, the Catskills
Any of the waterfalls on the north face of Katerskill Clove, the Catskills
The final climb up roaring Brook to Lost Pond, the Adirondacks
Breakneck Ridge, just outside Cold Spring, NY
Ice Cliffs (or White Rocks?) just off and visible from route 7, north of Manchester, VT.

The last two are rather spectacular.

Those I'm waiting to do:

Pharaoh Mountain, Adirondacks- should be a scramble possible around the cliff that attracts rock climbers.
King Ravine & head wall, Northern Presidentials
Trap Dike, Mnt. Colden, the Adirondacks
The slide on Friday, the Catskills

The NE suffers for lack of a Scrambles in the NE guide book...

There are some great rock scrambles on the Shawangunk Ridge southeast of the Catskills. Many of the individual scrambles at Mohonk are relatively short, however, they are immensely satisfying and fun. It is not difficult to combine several of the scrambles into a single day of hiking.

Mohonk Resort and Preserve (day use fee):
Labyrinth and Crevice to Skytop,
Giants Workshop, Humpty Dumpty, and Eagle Cliff Ascent
Cathedral Path
Zaidee's Bower
Rock Rift Crevices
Bonticou Crag

Sam's Point Preserve (day use fee and requires a permit)
Shingle Gully, Greater Ice Caves, Grand Canyon, Labyrinth, Sunken Forest
