A great day of winter mountaineering. The gate was still open and there were no cars in the area. Eventually two other cars arrived. It was cold all day (-15 oF) and there was a light snow. The trail was broken all the way to the top and it was easy to follow. Thanks to the trail-breakers who made that possible. Visibility from the summit was limited, but it was still a wonderful experience. We had a nice slide most of the way back to the Ward's Brook start. We started hiking at 7:15 AM, made it to the summit by 12:15 PM and were back at the car by 4:30 (no need for head lamps). We were in snowshoes all day although the Blueberry Pond stretch is very skiable.
I've got three left to finish. Thanks Ron for your company.

Merry Christmas one and all and a healthy, safe, and peace-filled New Year.
