Dated hiked: March 30, 2008
Special equipment: I used snowshoes but they are no longer necessary.
Trail conditions: 95% of the trail is snow covered, although with warmer temps I suspect most of the trail will be bare soon. No downed trees.
Comments: Wonderful easy snowshoe to a great lookout over Lake George.
The Buttermilk Falls/ Sly Pond/ Shelving Rock Road is becoming very potholed and rutted. Be careful driving on it to the trailhead. Washington County has closed the road down in past years when it became undriveable due to thawing conditions.
