Yes, this is the 4th trip we've made this year to this pair of peaks!
But only one of us is gridding, I swear!
We left the Shaft Rd. PA around 9:00 and headed up the tongue of Sherrill. (I hope Ted isn't reading this! ) This was another group hike, so the pace was pretty mellow. We made steady progress, and summited around 11:45. Along the way, I found a doggie-pack. Anyone lost one? We had a lunch of sorts and then headed down towards the col. On the way, we met a group of young, very friendly hikers coming up. They told us they had tried to sign up with us, but we were VERY full on this hike. Navigating to the col was easy, as the summit of North Dome was clearly visible. Up we went and hit the summit, with Joe leading the way with his amazing beagle-husky mix, Sierra. This dog has an endless supply of energy!
Heading down from ND to the Devil's path was slowed by a trip to the awesome view point a little to the South of the direct line, but this was on purpose. It was further slowed by the huge cliffs we had to wind our way down thru. But I hit the Devil's path right at the little pond, where the trail makes a sharp turn! BINGO! Finally being on trail was great, and we cruised back to the cars.
The beer and food at Cave were excellent too!
