A group of us headed in by 13th Lake in the Siamese Ponds Wilderness Area. Our initial goal was to reach Peaked Mountain, but that goal fell by the wayside as the day went on. The snow was not easily walked on, and there was quite a bit of blowdown to find your way around. There are a few streams to cross that were raging. I fell in on one of them up to my waist, and another friend fell in on another. At this point, soaking wet and cold we decided to turn around and save the mountain for another day. We went 4 miles roundtrip in about 6 hours. The trail was difficult to follow. I may be heading to the Catskills for a few weeks until the snow starts to go away in the Adirondacks.
