Hiked up Skook and down Greenleaf Trails on Saturday, May 16th. A few blow downs on Skook, with a couple of the larger ones leading to herd paths around; some fairly deep snow last half mile below junction with Garfield Ridge Trail, which was completely dry all the way to Lafayette summit. A little snow on Greenleaf Trail above Flea hut, some deeper snow part way down below Flea, then some slippery ice in Eagle Notch. Lots of recent rock fall on trail below Eagle cliff, but we did not carry hard hats.
Carried snowshoes and microspikes, but left both in pack; post-holing a few short sections was easier than stopping to mess with footwear. Only had black flies in Skook parking lot early in morning. Weather beautiful for summit shots. Remember, 300 degrees magnetic is the escape route down Greenleaf Trail when the summit is socked in. Passed my now required annual qualification hike for PVSART; woo hoo! ![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
