Outstanding sunshiney day to be in the woods. Snow conditions quite excellent for snowshoes. Started at the Hogtown Parking area. Trail/summer road well groomed by snowmobiles up until Dacy Clearing. After trail broke off for Sleeping Beauty, snow cover was still good except in a couple of spots where trail gets a lot of sun. Had to take the snowshoes off in the summit area of Sleeping Beauty as it was mostly exposed rock.
Lingered awhile and then headed down the backside and over to Fishbrook Pond. From Bump Pond to Fishbrook Pond ... again snowmobile groomed. On the way back, headed up the trail to Erebus but only followed it about halfway to the summit from Bump Pond. Decided to come back another day and hit Erebus from another direction.
A good day for general wandering on the east side of Lake George. About 11 miles total for the day. In at 7:30 AM; out at 1:30 PM.
