Smart's Mountain via Lambert Ridge Trail

Date of Hike: Sunday, April 26, 2009

Trail Conditions: Dry trail, mud, blue ice, spring snow

Special Equipment Required: Light traction not a bad idea

Comments:

Lambert Ridge Trail was snow free and mostly dry up to the Ranger Trail junction. Above that, there was some significant blue ice, and then some monorail near the top. There are herd paths around the ice (uphill).

There are no stream crossings on this trail.

We removed a few blowdowns, so the trail is mostly blowdown free (I believe one left, laying on the ground, no problem to step over).

Heard from other hikers that the Daniel Doan Trail is in really rough shape now conditions-wise.
