anyone have any thoughts or first hand knowledge of this product -

always looking to go lighter and like the fact this can double as a deadman for the tent.

I saw them at EMS for sale - very light - but not sure how well it would work in heavy snow.

Don't have first hand experience yet, but have thoughts since I bought one of the older generation (not as wide and no black rubber grips).
It is light and pretty sturdy - what else can I ask of a piece of plastic

They have a video on their website with a shovelling demonstration - seems like it does it's job.. and it's not nearly as heavy as a regular shovel - I'm sold

Read the ttips discussion if you wish. As with any product, there are those who think it stinks, those who love it, and those in between. I haven't used any of the Snowclaws personally, but some snowfolks I know and respect do like them.

I'm still carrying my trusty Voile Telepro shovels. May I never have to use them in an avalanche rescue/recovery situation, but I feel comfortable digging (chop/scrape, not levering) with them.
