Trail Conditions: not too bad down low, some mud but much wetter & muddier in the steep section as you approach the top. Several stream crossings, most easy to cross, the biggest involved looking for an alternate spot away from the trail crossing.

None of the alternates made Dad comfortable enough for an 8 yr. old to cross without poles (poles were safe & secure in the car) so in the spot with the biggest hops, I went in the brook to help. On the way up, mid-thigh (2 ft. or so) found a better place on the way back, about knee deep) The steep section is very eroded and muddy, found a couple of small spots of snow & ice.

Special Equipment Required: poles would make the bigger crossings easier. A couple up higher were made on rocks or bridges but poles would have provided added balance & piece of mind.

Comments: -Got an 8:30 start, the clouds giveth & taketh away. They took away what would have been a spectacular view from the firetower or from the ledges near the top, but the bugs were really a non-issue until the sun made a late day appearance & we were almost out by then. Nicholas did get a view of Snowy from Route 28 on our way back to the house in Minerva.
