I went for an all day bushwhack north of Montreal in a park in the Laurentians on Tuesday. The colors were pretty nice. I found an abandoned illegal cabin which was pretty cool.

Pictures.

Holy sh*t that's cool :D I've been in that area a couple of times but never bushwhacked, I guess it's worth it in QC too

Mister man, that looks like some quality firewood. How long did it look like it was there? the pic makes the wood look like it was getting good bark seperation.

My guess is the cabin has not been used for about 5 years. It looked like a bear had tossed it. The door was wide open and would not close. The stove is in excellent shape although as you can see the chimney needs an elbow joint.

The people who made it obviously knew what they were doing. That was a big tree that fell on it. It was well hidden too.

In Quebec, once you get about 75 miles north of Mtl you can bushwhack for hundreds of miles. I've been looking at one from St. Michel des Saints to Resevoir Kiamika, north of l'Annonciation. About 100 miles of lakes, rivers and hills. Maybe the odd lynx, wolf and moose too.
