Weather : ideal (50s - partly cloudy)
Trails: Ascended to South Baldface summit via Baldface circle trail, then descended down Slippery Brook trail.
Trail Conditions: Baldface loop trail going up South Baldface was damp in spots with some snow as the trail approached the shelter. Then some snow melting run-off on the rocks up the baldface. The Trail was poorly marked in some places; in particular the climb during the alpine zone where the trail ascends the rock face. Lack of trail markings made the steep rock face climb difficult for this first timer on the trail. Decending down Slippery Brook trail was as advertised, many post-holes (not too deep, but just annoying). Lots of ice.
Equipment: Bare-booted the whole way, though the snow and ice on Slippery Brook lasted much longer than anticipated. In hind-sight would have liked to use microspikes (or snowshoes), but they weren't a necessity.
Comments : It appears that all trails in this area share the yellow tag marking, if you're not paying attention you might end up on the wrong trail.
