South Kennebago Divide 3705'
The logging road approach to the start on Cloutier Rd(just south of Porter Brook), via Tim Pond/Wiggle Brook/Cupsuptic Pond Roads was in great shape (Thanks, Seven Island!).Cloutier RD was carpeted with yellow and red hawkweed. Heading roughly southeast up old skidder paths, only the last few hundred yards before the summit ridge were thick. The cannister was cleverly hidden in a dense clump of fir with the last sign-in dated 10/02! There were nice views of Whitecap and N Kennebago Divide from the more open lower slopes. Back on the Cloutier RD, a female Ruffed grouse darted out of the woods to within a few feet of me, squawking and displaying as her chicks scuttled off safely.

Unnamed Boundary Peak(Dennison Bog) 3550'
Starting along Porter Brook Rd and heading north on the first logging road, the route was wide open on old skidder paths all the way to the border swath at monument 451. The only difficulty was mid-calf deep mud (for a moment I thought I was in the Adirondaks)... a more astute hiker would have noted all the Bog lillies and realized they were named "bog" for a reason.Compensating for the wet going, a Bicknell's thrush was singing its flute-like trill nearby. A short walk along the boundary led to the summit, near monument 450, and a serendipitous meeting with Gamehiker and his dog Sadie who were approaching from Whitecap. (What are the odds of meeting on this obscure peak?!) We all enjoyed the walk out together, Gamehiker and I discussing the joys of bushwhacking and Sadie chasing numerous grouse.

Way to go Mark!
Are there sign's for "Cloutier Rd" & "Porter Brook Rd"? The Gazetteer looks less than clear to me.

Onestep

Onestep, when I was there last August, both woods roads were signed, and overall it seemed like all the logging roads in the area were signed. However, a fair amount of them aren't named in the Delorme atlas, and for some of the other ones that are, the name in the atlas doesn't match what the sign says in the field. However, there's few enough roads out there that it's easy enough to match up the two. If you know where Porter Brook Road is on the map, Cloutier is the first right just to the south of it.
