On Monday, 09/12/05 high winds prevented me from going up the Caps to Jefferson, so I took the Ammo to Lakes of the Clouds. Wind there was about 40, gusting to 70 or so, and in the fog. Tuesday morning, about 5:30, I looked out the hut window and saw it was clear and I ran up Monroe and watched the sunrise. It was neat, clear and the valleys full of clouds. I hit the Crawford Path after breakfast, and it was foggy again. Hit the peaks, nearly lost the trail on Franklin, but the CP is hard to miss. I didn't get any real good views until the Eisenhower/Pierce col, even then it was real hazy. Met some great people in the hut and on the trails. Thanks to all who gave advice.
