No summits today, just a scouting misson for future hiking trips...started off with Cold Brook Trail up to Evergreen Link jct..there is a logging operation going on but not on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays...anyway you are walking on a gravel logging road and then a skid road after the log yard(WMG gives good directions)...you will come to a snowmachine trail jct (sign, Adams Mt. left arrow Speckled Mt right arrow, green lettering) stay right of course and shortly after will hit the WMNF boundary (red blazes) and trail becomes a trail...Link not far away...
Albany Mt Trail from the south trailhead (Birch Ave)..again WMG gives good direction..wide gravel road, stay right at a jct. with camp on right...nice rock work on what, ER, could be a washout logging road...old beaver dam on left, bear slightly right, as there are a few yellow blazes to guide the way but an obvious trail to follow....nice ledge view of the Baldfaces etc up towards the spur to the summit...no blowdowns anywhere!!
Also checked out Virgina Lake, (paddle for sure) Patte Brook Rd to Patte Brook Marsh (paddle), Crocker Pond (paddle) campground and Albany Mt north trailhead...most likely a seldom area visited but it should be..Lefty E
